EDITH MACY CONFERENCE CENTER HOSTS "BIKE BUILD" FOR
THE CHILDREN'S VILLAGE, DOBBS FERRY, NEW YORK
Assembled and Donated Bikes & Scooters to the Children
BRIARCLIFF MANOR, NEW YORK, August 2005 … Employees of Edith Macy Conference
Center and two of its sister properties, the Downtown Conference Center and Conference Center Solutions,
both located in Manhattan, participated in a "bike build" recently to benefit The Children's Village of
Dobbs Ferry, New York. The organization serves more than 1,000 children in residential programs,
and provides services to approximately 10,000 children and 2,500 family members each year in Westchester
and New York City (www.childrensvillage.org).
Several bikes and scooters were purchased and assembled by the combined employee team. Upon
completion, the toys were transported to The Children's Village for use by the children.
The bike build was a Hometown Hospitality initiative by Edith Macy and its sister properties. Hometown Hospitality is a
community service program through Benchmark Hospitality International, the company that manages Edith Macy Conference
Center and its Manhattan-based sister properties.
The Edith Macy program had a slightly unique twist in that the employees gathered together for a "surprise event,"
which turned out to be the bike build.
"We had a wonderful time coming together for what was an afternoon of great fun building bikes and scooters for the
children," stated Dave Vogt, general manager for Edith Macy. "Seeing the look on the faces of the children upon
receiving the toys was the best reward of all for an afternoon of gathering parts, reading directions and assembling."
The bike build was coordinated by Edith Macy's Sherri Hoy, director of sales, and Juliet Deitz, director of human resources.
